David After Dentist

My sister Kristi was quite the character. Having cancer and dealing with the awareness that her time was short had no effect on this part of her personality. In fact, it brought it out even more. We were blessed to have time to talk to her about how she wanted to be remembered at her memorial. Yes, it was very hard to do that but we wanted her to be part of the decsions on how she wanted to be remembered. One of her requests was to have a bounce house for the kids. I know, crazy isnt it! My brother in law and I looked at each other and whispered that there was no way that was going to happen. Well, Kristi got the last laugh. As it turns out, we were offered the use of a nice home for a family dinner after the service. Ryan's brothers got together and rented a huge bounce house that fit perfectly in the front of the house. The kids had a blast. It was a happy ending to a somber day. As proof of that fun, here is a photo of my son William coming down the slide. Isnt it priceless?

Thanks Kristi, that was a great idea....

That is awesome that Kristi thought of others on her way out of this life and made her way to eternal life.

Thanks for sharing! This is very encouraging.

As someone who is in her mid-50’s and under “end of life” care because of untreatable cancer, I understand perfectly why Kristi wanted this. They’re kids. One of their jobs is to play. And to remind us grown ups that life is too short and not to take it so seriously all the time. What better way to say good bye to a loved one than with joy and laughter in your heart? I hope some of the adults joined in. I would have. Good for you Kristi! And good for you Dave’s Dad, for honouring her last wishes. As far as I’m concerned those are non-negotiable (unless it means harm to another.)

So sorry for your loss. :( Last year, my doctor freaked me out. She very seriously thought I had advanced breast cancer. (turns out I don’t) When I thought I was dying, I got so depressed, I couldn’t be happy no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t laugh or play with my dogs. Then after a couple months I thought: “Why am I wasting my time being depressed if I have only a short time to live?.. I should be living it in a happy way and a good way and do all that I can to live my last months like that.” I think Kristi handled her situation amazingly well and if she knew that the kids did get a bouncy house, she would be so happy. I am sure of it!
